The Arkansas River runs through this exciting park, adding more opportunities for fun during your visit, and although the Tulsa, OK Gathering Place has only been in existence a few short years, opening its gates to the public in 2018, we already can’t imagine a world without it in it. Offering shaded playgrounds for the kids, pickleball courts for the adults, and everything in between, the park is truly a place for people of all ages to gather. The playgrounds feature sensory gardens, climbing towers, and our personal favorite, the Reading Tree, the largest and oldest cottonwood tree in the park, underneath which there will be a variety of literacy programs designed to encourage a love of reading. Because all of this outdoor activity will most certainly make you hungry, the Gathering Place includes a variety of restaurants, including the Patio, a quick service restaurant where meals are enjoyed outside under beautiful mature trees.
Water Fun for the Whole Family
ONEOK Boathouse offers more opportunities for fun, featuring a deck that provides breathtaking views of the Arkansas River, pedal boat rentals for Peggy’s Pond, and another opportunity to enjoy a really good meal, only this one comes with views as well. Their Art in the Park series is a revolving exhibition of reproduction pieces from Gilcrease Museum and proving that learning can be fun is a full-time job for the Gathering Place. Their event calendar is filled with educational activities that we promise your kids won’t even know they are learning something, they will be having so much fun.
