Pack your bags and gather your loved ones for a fun and exciting vacation full of all the winter season fun you need. A getaway to Tulsa provides the ultimate experience, with an array of things to do and places to go you won’t find anywhere else!
Your Winter Getaway to Tulsa
Fans of the iconic singer will want to include a stop here. The center houses an array of exhibits and memorabilia dedicated to Dylan’s life and career. See exclusive cultural treasures that were owned or created by the legendary singer-songwriter, like handwritten lyrics to some of his most famous works. Explore the museum and see – or hear – exhibits including never-released recordings, never-before-seen film performances, photos, and visual art from his personal collection.
Cave House
The structure was originally built in 1924 as a chicken restaurant and is now a private residence. The quirky outside architecture isn’t even half the story, and the owner has plenty more to share! There are no set hours for tours: schedule one directly with the homeowner. Call 918-378-1952 to reserve your time. Tours are $15 for ages 13+ and $7.50 for guests under 13.
Center of the Universe
You don’t have to board a space shuttle to travel to the center of the universe: just make it a part of your vacation to Tulsa in 2024. A pedestrian overpass of the railway in downtown Tulsa boasts a brick path leading to a brick circle directly over the tracks. Those who stand in the middle of the circle can shout and hear their words echo back. The amazing part about it is that anyone outside the circle cannot. Wait for trains to pass by, as you’ll hear your echo most clearly when there are none.
Philbrook Museum of Art
Your timed admission ticket gives you entrance to a world of art you may never has seen before. You’ll discover an array of art in various styles and mediums. The permanent and rotating exhibits display the artistic talent of local and nationally acclaimed artists. Some of these include “Trade & Transformation” – a look at how the trading of objects between cultures gives the item a different meaning each time, or “Coded Imagery,” a collection of abstract artworks by two of the country’s most prominent African American artists of the 20th century.
Route 66 Historical Village
People used to get their kicks on Route 66, which ran through multiple states and locales, including a drive through Tulsa. Start in the visitors center, a replica of a 1920’s era Phillips 66 gas station. Look up and try to see the top of the tallest oil derrick in North America, 154 feet above the ground! Other stops around the village include the restored Frisco 4500 Meteor Steam Engine, and a 1929 Pullman passenger car. Don’t forget to snap a pic in front of the Route 66 Highway Shield!
Tulsa Zoo
Located on 85 acres of land in Mohawk Park, the zoo has been bringing local and exotic animal residents to the people of Tulsa since 1927. Enter the zoo’s “Lost Kingdom” and observe Chinese alligators, Komodo dragons, Malayan tigers, and more. Visit “Oceans and Islands” and catch glimpses of African penguins, black and white ruffled lemurs, and California sea lions. Take a trip to the rainforest where you’ll meet the radiated tortoise, spiny monitor, black howler monkey, and many others. Take a ride on the train that circles the entire zoo and pick out all your other stops along the way!
