Located at 2727 S. Rockford Road
Although we appreciate the beauty of a grand museum in which all its art, historic exhibits, and of course its gift shops are housed in a giant new building, there’s something special about museum structures that offer a little taste of history as well, and the Philbrook, housed in a 1920s villa, is the perfect example. Not a small place by any stretch of the imagination, the museum was once the grand estate of a local oil pioneer and is tucked away on 25 acres of stunning gardens. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, entry into this famed spot runs $17 for adults and $6 for children 3-17, and in addition to its selection of art and exhibitions, it also offers special events designed to encourage a further love of art, including teen hangouts and family nature walks. This variety of happenings makes this museum popular not just for adults, but for children and teens as well.
Exhibitions Past and Future
The exhibits that are everchanging can include a segment on leaves one week and a months-long exploration into the written work the next, ensuring that there will be something that appeals to everyone. Also providing the art of music, the last half of 2023 has been dedicated to the musical arrangements of local musicians, taking place in the gardens of Philbrook, but don’t be sad if you miss this spectacular exhibit. There will be many more ready to step into the spotlight, no matter when your vacation to Tulsa takes place.
Want a Snack?
In addition to the expected gift shop, the Philbrook Museum of Art also offers a pop up café known as Café by Antoinette Baking Company. Serving lunch, snacks, and of course, delicious baked goods and all the beverages you need to wash it down, visitors can extend their time in the art, even when hunger pangs begin to distract.
