Everyone remembers that one restaurant that was the special occasion restaurant for their family while they were growing up. Everyone would dress in their finest clothes, eat lightly on the day because they knew they were going to eat ALL their favorite foods, and when the big moment arrived, the feeling of family and togetherness made all right in the world. Open since 1976, The Chalkboard Kitchen Bar is that restaurant for our StayInTulsaOK families, and after some incredible renovations and revamping, we know it will continue to be for years to come.
Located at 1324 S Main Street
Perhaps one of the best things about The Chalkboard Kitchen Bar is the realization that today, we no longer have to save it for a special occasion. Change can be good, and the more casual vibe encourages guests to make it their go to spot for a workday lunch, an ordinary Sunday brunch, and of course, and any time at all while on vacation! Offering a moody décor that somehow manages to appear bright, its welcoming ambience will make everyone feel at home, even if only visiting for drinks in the bar where golden pendant lamps, dark wood, and a mirrored backdrop adds sophistication to your cold beer and appetizers.
Impeccable Flavors
The menus themselves (there are four—breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner) are a gift to diners, providing a hearty richness and a sophisticated blend of French cuisine and good old fashioned American chow.
The breakfast menu provides the standard items you would expect from a well-heeled restaurant including eggs benedict and avocado toast, but also offers a few surprises in the form of breakfast tacos or bread pudding French toast. At brunch, lunch favorites are added to the menu, including a twist on an old southern favorite, their Fried Green Tomatoes BLT.
Their dinner menu, however, is the shining star of The Chalkboard Kitchen, featuring a tour through many nations. A selection of Wellingtons from England, eggplant lasagna from Italy, and a Cajun treat that will be a treat to your taste buds, oven pan seared Cajun salmon straight from the bayou, are all waiting to be devoured by you and your hungry family!
Finally, the fifth menu (Wait, did we mention there are actually five menus, or six if you consider their cocktail menus?) may be your favorite, the dessert menu laden with sweets you will never forget, including chocolate caramel cake topped with homemade ice cream!
